We support the growth of the local economy and entrepreneurship, especially for micro and small businesses, by prioritizing local procurement. In Brazil, we made BRL 17.9 billion in transactions with local suppliers across Bahia, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Mato Grosso do Sul, and São Paulo—areas where Suzano operates, including its headquarters and subsidiaries. These transactions account for 42% of our global purchasing during this period.
Since 2020, through the Semear program, we have supported the growth of these vital partners and have already trained over 400 companies.
An essential aspect of creating value in the supply chain is providing financial support to suppliers. In 2025, we continued our partnership with fintech Monkey Exchange for the fifth year, helping suppliers access credit. Learn more about our procedures and policies for responsible supplier management through the Supplier Communication Channel.
The company is dedicated to sustainability in its supply chain, urging wood suppliers to obtain Responsible Forest Management certifications. To ensure the wood from partners without such certifications is responsibly sourced, we implement the Due Diligence System and Monitoring Program in accordance with Suzano's Wood Procurement Policy, international laws, and FSC® Controlled Wood/PEFC Controlled Sources standards.
Due diligence involves evaluating and managing risks in the supply chain. This includes verifying compliance with environmental, social, legal, and labor standards through first-party, second-party, and independent third-party audits. The process covers both direct wood suppliers and indirect suppliers responsible for harvesting and transportation.
The table below displays the proportion of spending on local suppliers by state in Brazil.
